Emergency Closing of Schools
The safety and well being of students and staff members is our top priority. In the case of inclement weather, we will work with Riverside Brookfield High School, Komarek District 94 and Brookfield District 95 to make an emergency school closing/eLearning decision that supports our students with consideration to weather, travel, safety, and facilities.
An eLearning day, in lieu of an emergency day, allows the curriculum to move forward and does not need to be made up at the end of the school year. Students will be sent home with their electronic devices if an eLearning day is anticipated.
eLearning Communication Plan
Our goal is to make a decision and send an announcement between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm the night before an eLearning day. We understand the importance of having this information with enough time to plan for childcare and at-home support. However, in an unanticipated weather or facility emergency, we would make every effort to announce that by 6:00 am.
This notice will be sent to parents/guardians via SchoolMessenger phone message and email. It will also be posted to the District 96 website, our social media pages, and the Emergency Closing Center website.
Please note Riverside Parks and Recreation offers supervised childcare and eLearning support in conjunction with a D96 eLearning day.
